It consists of developing and maintaining an efficient and effective asset management financial infrastructure from an operational, control and statutory perspective which includes.
- Ensuring fixed assets are correctly recorded in the financial statements, including liaising with the external auditors, finance managers and asset valuers.
- Overseeing the transactional update of the fixed asset register in a timely and accurate manner including capitalisation of assets, depreciation, re-valuations, additions and disposals and the reconciliation of the asset register to the General Ledger.
- Providing strategic advice on fixed asset management.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive policies and procedures for all asset accounting.
- Having knowledge of all phases of fixed assets
- Monitoring/tracking capital asset expenditures and projects, ensuring compliance with established capitalisation.
- Tracking project spending and assuring reconciliation of projects to the General Ledger and performing reconciliations of actual depreciation expenses.
- Processing asset additions, deletions, transfers and equipment status change transactions.
- Reviewing and monitoring plant accounting activity to ensure assets are capitalised, costed and tagged in a timely manner.
- Reviewing and monitoring progress of capital projects, checking for proper account structure, adhering to capitalisation policy, and ensuring asset write-offs are properly recorded.
- Performing project close-out processes.
- Preparing/analysing/presenting plant capital and expense spend analysis to management.
- Ensuring proper accounting for all capital and fixed asset transactions; including pricing, transfers, write-offs and additions.
- Ensuring proper accounting between Expense and Capital and that organisation policies are adhered to.
