Our consultants are usually employed on short-term contracts with clients and are quite often referred to by the client as a "contractor".
Contractors are considered an essential part of the workplace within both the commercial and government sectors. It is the employment sector that has experienced a consistent level of growth over recent years. Contractors are used to “fill gaps” in place of permanent employees or to address specific skills needs for projects such as systems conversions. Contracting is a definite career option – whether for the short, medium or longer term.
Just as contractors are an essential part of the workplace, they are an even more essential part of the Accounting and Auditing Solutions team. Our staff who are contracted out to clients
How do I get paid?
Our consultants are paid on an hourly rate basis (for every hour worked). Timesheets are submitted weekly to Accounting and Auditing Solutions Pty Ltd and our payroll is processed fortnightly. In addition to the hourly rate, our team members also receive superannuation, but the hourly rate is inclusive of all sick leave and holiday pay entitlements.
How long are the contracts?
The term of each contract varies, more often than not the contract is extended.
Who do I work for and how and when do I get paid?
- You are employed by Accounting and Auditing Solutions Pty Ltd and paid fortnightly into your bank account.
- Your pay is based on a weekly timesheet completed by you each week .
- Accounting and Auditing Solutions invoices the employer each week based on this timesheet.
- You are paid standard compulsory super (nine percent for 06/07) into a nominated account.
- Accounting and Auditing Solutions is responsible for your workers compensation cover if you contract as an individual.
Can I set up my own company and contract through Accounting and Auditing Solutions?
- Yes, you are able to establish your own company and still be employed under a contract basis with Accounting and Auditing Solutions.
- We only agree to employ consultants under this method who have unique requirements. All our consultants are representing Accounting and Auditing Solutions Pty Ltd when they undertake a contract with a client thus we do not sub-contract actual assignments.
- You are required to complete timesheets, have them authorised by the employer and invoice Accounting and Auditing Solutions based on these hours.
- You need to register a business/company with an ABN and GST. It is important to understand that if you are registered as a Sole Trader or Partnership Accounting and Auditing Solutions is obligated to withhold PAYG tax as we would for an individual.
- You are responsible for your own superannuation and workers compensation cover. (Note that there are strict legislative requirements governing subcontracting – these should be fully investigated prior to deciding to subcontract).
What are my responsibilities if I secure a contract through Accounting and Auditing Solutions?
- You are representing Accounting and Auditing Solutions Pty Ltd and as such are expected to act professionally in all aspects relating to the client and to Accounting and Auditing Solutions Pty Ltd.
- If you are working in a contract for Accounting and Auditing Solutions, keep us informed of your contact telephone numbers, changes to your contract and ongoing status.
- If any issues arise during your contract please liaise Accounting and Auditing Solutions who will mediate and endeavour to resolve any problems with the employer.
- Complete a weekly timesheet and forward to us each Friday prior to COB. You must inform us, as well as the employer, of any time off required.
- In accordance with the terms of engagement, you must give two weeks notice if leaving.
- You must not approach the employer directly in relation to contracting on the employer’s books or taking up a permanent position with the employer. All offers of employment should be directed through Accounting and Auditing Solutions
